I grew up in northern Illinois and went to my local high school. After graduation, I went to college at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I majored in Molecular and Cellular Biology and minored in Chemistry.

My research has won awards at forums ranging from Atlanta to Galveston to Omaha.
